The anaesthesia team of Wolfart Hospital is made up of five experienced specialists in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine and ten specialist nurses. All the modern anaesthetic procedures are used.
In order to carry out careful anaesthesia, the anaesthesia procedure which is appropriate for the patient is determined during a personal pre-medication appointment with the anaesthetist. Local anaesthesia and periphery blockades of the nerves ("pain catheter") carried out in addition to general anaesthesia are used during painful surgical interventions and are an important component of our intra- and postoperative pain therapy. In obstetrics epidural anaesthesia (PDA) is likewise used for the treatment of pain. We meet the criteria for certification as a "pain-free hospital" and strive for this.
After their operations patients can be monitored and looked after in our intensive care department with its state-of-the-art equipment until they can be transferred to the wards.
For the safety of our patients we use intra-operative auto-transfusion (recovery, processing and return of wound blood during and after the operation) and pre-operative auto-transfusion donation. |
