The department covers the spectrum of surgical treatment of degenerative diseases of the support and movement joints. In addition, traumatology of the special field is provided..
The important main area of focus of the department is the implantation of hip, knee and shoulder endoprostheses. The techniques used are in compliance with the latest scientific findings and high-quality titanium implants are used which show solid long-term results. The vast majority of artificial joints are implanted without cement. We also carry out endoprostheses replacement operations for the loosening of artificial joints. In the field of hip endoprosthetics we use the minimal-invasive `Yale Technique´.
Another main area of focus of the department is the correction of congenital and acquired deformities in the area of the extremities. As a result in a variety of instances of painful restrictions in movement freedom from pain and the full ability of the joint to work can be achieved by correction of the deformity without the necessity of a replacement joint. Examples of this are corrections for hip dysplasia with corrections to the thigh and lower leg through to pelvis triple osteotomies in accordance with Kalchschmidt-Tönnis.
Another main area of focus of the department is surgery to the foot. Painful deformities and restrictions in movement, predominantly in the area of the forefoot but also in the area of the rear of the foot, can be remedied. Examples are the typical deformities such as Hallux valgus and hammer toe deformities which can be corrected using reconstructive surgical procedures. |
